The 15 Most Beautiful Wedding Venues in Tuscany, Italy

The 15 Most Beautiful Wedding Venues in Tuscany, Italy

Picture this: a long table under a pergola, candles flickering, glasses of Chianti being topped up as the sun sinks behind a row of cypress trees. If that’s the wedding you keep coming back to, Tuscany is calling.

Few places on earth do romance quite like this corner of Italy. Think honey-coloured stone villas, vineyards rolling to the horizon, hilltop towns that look painted rather than built, and food so good your guests will still be talking about it years later. Add Renaissance art, medieval castles, and summer evenings that stretch well past midnight, and it’s no surprise couples from all over the world choose to say “I do” here.

Some couples want the grandeur of a Florentine palazzo. Others want a barefoot, boho weekend at a countryside estate. And some want a castle, because why not? Tuscany can do all three, often within an hour of each other.

We’ve rounded up 15 of the most stunning venues across Florence, Chianti, Siena, the Val d’Orcia, and beyond.

Planning a Wedding in Tuscany

Falling for a venue is the easy part. Here are the practical things worth knowing before you put down a deposit.

When to get married in Tuscany

May, June, September, and early October are the sweet spot: warm days, cooler evenings, and golden light that photographers dream about. July and August are glorious but hot, often well above 30°C in the afternoon, and mid-August is Ferragosto, when much of Italy is on holiday and some suppliers close. Autumn brings the grape harvest to Chianti and Montalcino, which makes for wonderful wine tastings with guests.

Getting there

Florence and Pisa are the two main airports, and Pisa usually has more direct and budget flights. Bologna is a good alternative for northern Tuscany, and Rome works well for the Maremma and southern Val d’Orcia. Most venues are in the countryside, so plan a shuttle for the wedding day rather than leaving guests to navigate winding hill roads after dinner.

Foreign couples can marry legally in Italy, but it takes paperwork: usually a declaration of no impediment from your own country, translated and apostilled documents, and an appointment at the local town hall shortly before the wedding. Only certain venues are licensed for civil ceremonies, so check early. Many couples choose to sign the legal papers at home and have a symbolic ceremony in Tuscany, which gives you complete freedom over where and how you say “I do”.

Budget and bookings

Many of the most beautiful Tuscan venues are exclusive-use villas and estates, priced for the whole property and often with a minimum stay of three nights, or a full week in high summer. It can sound like a lot, but it usually includes accommodation for your closest guests and turns the wedding into a long weekend. The most popular venues book up a year or more ahead for peak season. Ask about music curfews too: many rural venues ask for amplified music to move indoors or wind down around midnight.

Keeping guests happy

A Tuscan wedding is rarely just one day. A welcome aperitivo, a wine tasting, or a lazy recovery lunch by the pool gives guests who have travelled a long way a reason to stay for the whole weekend, and gives you more time with the people you love.

From Renaissance villas overlooking Florence to hilltop castles in the heart of wine country, Tuscany makes it very hard to choose just one. Whatever your style, whether that’s grand and glamorous, rustic and relaxed, or somewhere in between, there’s a Tuscan venue that feels like it was made for you. And if you’re still weighing up destinations, our guide to the best wedding venues in Andalusia is a sunny Spanish alternative.
