About Posy
Posy is a wedding photo sharing app. One QR code, scanned by your guests, collects every photo and video from your wedding day into one private gallery. No app to install. No accounts to make.
This page is about how Posy got its name, and how it got started.
What does “posy” mean?
A posy is a small bouquet, flowers gathered and tied together, held as one thing in your hand.
It’s not the grand arrangement on the table. It’s not the centrepiece. A posy is smaller, quieter, and the whole point is in the word itself: many things, gathered. The roses, the sweet peas, the bit of greenery someone tucked in at the last minute. Separate stems that become one bouquet because someone took the time to bring them together.
That’s the idea we kept coming back to.
Why we chose the name
A wedding is a hundred small things happening at once. The look on someone’s face during the speeches. The cousin who tried to learn the first dance. The five minutes you took alone before the ceremony. The friend who caught a perfect photo from the back of the room without you noticing.
None of those things, on its own, is the whole day. The day is what happens when you gather them.
A posy is what you do with the stems. Posy is what we built to do it with the photos.
How Posy started
We didn’t set out to build a wedding photo app. We were just getting married.
We wanted every photo our guests took. The funny ones, the candid ones, the ones from angles our photographer couldn’t be in, without making anyone download an app or sign up for anything. We tried what was out there. Some of it asked our guests to create accounts. Some of it nudged them toward an App Store. One of our older relatives gave up halfway through and asked us to text her the WhatsApp number again.
So we built something simpler for our own wedding. One QR code on every table. Guests scanned, uploaded, and got on with the party. By the time we sat down at the end of the night, our gallery had hundreds of photos from angles we’d never have seen otherwise. The dance floor we were never quite on, the toddler under the dessert table, the look on a friend’s face during the vows.
Friends planning their own weddings started asking how we’d done it. Then their friends. Then a few wedding vendors we’d met through ours.
Posy is what came next. The same simple idea, built properly, for anyone who wants their wedding day held in one place.
What Posy does
Posy is a wedding photo sharing app for couples and wedding professionals. Guests scan a QR code, placed on tables at your venue or shared through your private link, and start uploading photos and videos immediately. No download. No account. No friction.
Everything lands in one private gallery, visible only to people with the link. You can download the whole gallery in full resolution at any time. Photos and videos sit side by side. Top contributors are quietly surfaced. The gallery stays yours for twelve months.
Posy works on any phone, for any guest, of any age. The whole point is that nobody, not your tech-averse aunt, not the friend whose storage is full, not the guest who’s there for one drink, has to install anything to take part.
You can see the full how-it-works on the home page, and the plans on the pricing page.
Who Posy is for
Couples planning a wedding (or any event: birthdays, anniversaries, reunions; Posy works the same way) who want every guest’s photos in one place, without chasing texts and WhatsApp threads for months afterwards.
Wedding professionals: photographers, videographers, venues, planners, DJs, florists, caterers, hair and makeup artists, photo booth operators. The people who recommend Posy to the couples they work with. We’ve built a dedicated page for each:
- Photographers
- Videographers
- Venues
- Wedding planners
- DJs & music
- Florists
- Caterers
- Hair & makeup
- Photo booths
For vendors who refer Posy to the couples they work with, we run an affiliate programme.
A small detail you might appreciate
The phrase on our home page, hold everything close, is what the word posy has always quietly meant. A handful of separate things, gathered into one, held in one hand.
Your wedding day is the same. You can’t be everywhere on it. You don’t need to be.
Your guests already are.
Frequently asked
What does Posy mean? A posy is a small bouquet, flowers gathered and tied together so they can be held as one. That’s the idea behind the app: every guest’s photos, every angle of the day, gathered into one private gallery.
Why is it called Posy? Because a posy is a small bouquet, many flowers gathered into one thing you can hold. We thought that was a fair description of what a wedding day actually is, and what we wanted the app to do with the photos from it.
Is Posy a wedding app? Yes. Posy is a wedding photo sharing app. Guests scan a QR code to upload photos and videos to a single private gallery. No download, no account.
Is Posy only for weddings? Posy was designed for weddings, but it works for any event: birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, corporate events. Same QR code, same private gallery.
Who built Posy? Posy was started by a couple who built the first version for their own wedding, after trying the existing options and finding them too complicated for their guests. It grew from there, through friends, then friends-of-friends, then vendors.
